Fly Fishing

The Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California, is one of the world’s great big-game fish destinations. Known for its great diversity of species, anglers will have a chance at a number of once in a lifetime trophies. Baja’s inshore and beach fishing is a fly-rodder’s paradise! On the inshore and beach, you’ll find good numbers of Jacks, ladyfish, sierra mackerel, snappers, pompano, yellowtail, and the ultimate prize, the roosterfish. All of these species can be caught from a boat or directly from the beach. The waters of the East Cape provide a unique and challenging fly-fishing environment you won’t find anywhere else on Earth.

Kiteboarding

The East Cape of Baja and particularly Los Barriles is a popular destination for kiteboarding, especially during the winter months. There are several local schools where you can take lessons and rent equipment.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling can be done both onsite and off, with many wonderful local destinations within a close driving distance.

One of the best diving locations nearby is Cabo Pulmo Park, located just 60 miles north of Baja’s tourism epicenter, Los Cabos. This jewel of the East Cape region of Baja California Sur stretches five miles from the northernmost tip, Pulmo Point to the southernmost tip, Los Frailes. Surrounded by undeveloped desert and a stunning mountain range, the pristine beaches of Cabo Pulmo Park give way to a shallow bay that cradles one of three living reefs (the only hard coral reef) in North America.
